Adult Take-Home Art Kit: Meet the Artist: Alma Woodsey Thomas

11:30 PM – 11:45 PM

Description

Adult Take-Home Art Kits provide adult patrons with an at-home creative experience away from screens and technology. Alma Woodsey Thomas was an African-American artist who is recognized as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. She was the first African-American woman to be included in the White House's permanent art collection. She is best known for her colorful, representational paintings that explore color theory and highlight the natural world. Using her technique of layered shapes and stripes, create your own landscape painting using this technique and be inspired by one of our country's pioneering Black artists.

This is a self-directed project. All supplies and instructions provided. Register for a kit online.

No in-person or virtual instructional component accompanies this kit. Supplies and instructions are included in each take-home kit. Registrants will be contacted via email for kit pickup location preference. Registration available through Saturday, February 28, 2026.
