The Decodables: Friends and Family Fun!
Decodable books are learning-to-read books that teach phonics skills and build these skills in an order. The “decode” portion refers to the reading skill called decoding. Decoding requires understanding that the words you hear and say can be written with a code, and that code is letters. Learning that letters represent sounds (phonics) involves taking apart sounds in words, blending sounds together, and having a strong understanding of the letter-sound relationships. (Source: readingrockets.org) This series focuses on consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) patterns and is written for grades K-1; it follows in the below order! Each title includes a note to caregiver and word list.
